Introduction to Reiki, what is Reiki?

Reiki is a combination of Japanese sayings, rei and ki , these words mean universal life energy. Reiki is a complementary therapy, an ancient healing method that uses life force energy to heal everything that lives. Sensei Mikao Usui was the creator of the Reiki Usui System of Natural Healing. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. It is an effective way to experience a deep and refreshing relaxation. Reiki is part of complementary and alternative medicine, it should not be a replacement for conventional treatment.

The 5 Reiki principles (Gokai) by Usui Mikao to promote a healthy lifestyle are :

Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will be grateful
Just for today, I will work hard
Just for today, I will be kind to others.


During the Reiki session, the practitioner will place her hands lightly on different parts of your body. Sometimes the Reiki practitioner does not actually touch you, whether you will or won't be touched depends on your wishes and needs and will be discussed before we start the treatment. In case touching isn't needed or wished, we will hover lifted handpalms a couple of inches above your body. Either way, Reiki energies flow where they are suppose to, just like water that always flows to the deepest point. Reiki is a type of energy that always flows where the imbalances/problems are in your body, Reiki is a beautiful complementary healing therapy that works holistically, regardless of where the practitioner's hands are placed or held above. It is even possible to recieve Reiki from a big distance.
